Web Wiz Carbon Offsets through World Land Trust10 September 2013 - by Web Wiz At Web Wiz we are committed to cutting our carbon emissions and have over the past year reduced our energy consumption through our Power Usage and Efficiency Program.
For those carbon emissions that we are not able to eliminate we have for the 3rd year in a row partnered with The World Land Trust through their Carbon Balanced Program to offset 7,819 tonnes of carbon dioxide used in our Data Centre, office and company transport. The World Land Trust is a UK Registered Charity who has since 1989 worked to conserve the Worlds Rainforests through their Carbon Balanced Projects. To balance our carbon emissions the World Land Trust purchase and restore threatened tropical forests in Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, India and Tanzania. At Web Wiz to reduce energy consumption when equipment is replaced the old equipment, where possible, is always recycled and new equipment and servers must have a lower carbon footprint. Web Wiz servers are purpose-built in-house for their required task selecting components for their green credentials like low voltage Intel Xeon CPU’s and Intel Solid State Hard Drives. For further information on how Web Wiz are reducing energy consumption and recycling please take a look at our Green Hosting pages. |
