HTTPS - Is Your Website Ready for Chrome 68?

Google is set to release Chrome 68 an updated to their Chrome Web Browser in July 2018, which will mark all HTTP websites as 'Not Secure' in the browser address bar.

Chrome 68 will include a security check to see if the website is using an encrypted connection over an HTTPS web address.

To avoid this 'Not Secure' label the website would need to have an SSL/TLS Certificate and all traffic be directed to an HTTPS web address.

Web Wiz are able to provide a SSL/TLS Certificate for our Hosting Customers for as little as £29.95 + VAT per year.

SSL Certificates bought through ourselves include the application submission to the SSL authority and setting up the SSL certificate on the Customers website with a Search Engine Optimised (SEO) redirect from the previous HTTP address to the new HTTPS address.

Website Malware Scanning

We have recently added a new service for our Website Hosting Customers that scans websites for malware, virus, and other website exploits using ClamAV.

Previously we used Kaspersky Server Endpoint to scan websites, but while Kaspersky is great for finding malware that infects operating systems, it is not so great at detecting malware in website files.

ClamAV along with additional signatures from Malware Experts, is excellent at scanning for malware, viruses and exploits in website files and also integrates with MSP Hosting Control Panel allowing customers to run on-demand scans of their websites at anytime.

We will be running regular scans of our customers websites using ClamAV and sending an alert via email to the Hosting Account email address if anything is found.

Web Wiz New Poole Data Centre

Web Wiz are pleased to announce the opening of our new 1,800 sq. ft. Tier II Data Centre facility in Poole, Dorset on the South Coast of the UK.

The location of the purpose-built Data Centre was selected as it situated on the highest point in Poole to reduce the risk of flooding.

Green energy efficiency was at the heart of our new Data Centre design, with Generators powered by Natural Gas rather than Diesel and A++ rated Heat Exchangers to keep the Data Hall cool.

We understand that to our customers service outages are a major concern that is why we have two diverse Fibre Connections coming in to the building at opposite sides, one from BT OpenReach and the other from Virgin Media.

Over the next couple of months, we will be migrating our Equipment and Servers co-located at 3rd Party Data Centres over to our new Poole Data Centre.
